These are the main reasons why if your frame is of good quality and has lasted over the years you may want to have it reupholstered. Over the years furniture manufactures have had to reduce there cost. Where I have found that they have cut back the most in quality is in the frames because this is an area that the customer does not see and very often does not know to check. Another area is in the mechanisms such as the levers on reclining chairs and the springs. These mechanisms are now very often not hardened in the same process that older mechanisms were hardened in and they tend to break in a much shorter time span. There is not a very easy way for you the customer to recognize this other than comparing the thickness of and color of the metal. Once you have decided that your chair is worthy of reupholstering you have entered into a realm of choices !
